It’s that time of year  . . .  when the phone calls are about Crab Feeds for schools, churches, and various organizations.  We love to answer these calls because of the excitement we hear in their voices.  The questions are always the same – what’s the cost, where will the crabs come from, are they big in size, when will you know the exact cost, and do you deliver.  Each year since the 1940’s – the answers are always different.  Each Dungeness Crab Season is different.  We have to deal with weather and market conditions.  Will the Dungeness Crabs be in the exact location?  How far out will they be found?  What was last year will not be the case this year.  One year, the crabs were found in the freighter shipping lanes.  The crab fleet had to return to port with their gear just so they could re-rope the pots with longer lines.  No one expected that one!
